UPTONSTEEL are looking to recruit Professional HGV Drivers to deliver palletised sheet steel to locations within the UK on a daily basis.

 

The Role is to:-

 

  • Promote a positive image of the Company to all our Customers
  • Ensure driving is carried out in a safe & efficient manner, in full compliance with road traffic regulations including Working Time, Driver Hours.
  • Ensure vehicle is in a safe condition, with daily checks correctly completed before use and any defects reported using the system provided.
  • Oversee the safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises, ensuring Proof of Delivery notes are signed & returned without delay.
  • Check the load security & weight distribution according to latest safe working practices and risk assessments before setting out & after each drop.
  • Actively take responsibility for keeping vehicle clean & tidy.  Vehicles are allocated to one driver.

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of one years’ driving experience
  • Must be prepared to do night outs (depending on the needs of business could be up to 4 per week)
    A clean driving licence /CPC up to date
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience of load restraint using chains/strapping
  • Used to working in a flexible team environment

OVERHEAD GANTRY CRANE OPERATOR – MUST HAVE CURRENT LICENCE AND HELD FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR  

 

  • Unwrapping of all steel coils and ensuring allocated to correct storage bays
  • Allocation of material to specified jobs
  • Responsible for the feeding of the coils to the Decoiling lines
  • Ensuring that all necessary paperwork is carried out
  • Completing the necessary information on I Metal systems /Stock control

 

 

FLT / LOADER – MUST HAVE CURRENT COUNTERBALANCE LICENCE AND HAVE HELD FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS                       

 

  • Must have experience of load planning goods onto vehicles ensuring the weights are correct and loaded safely reading for Driver to secure.
  • Ensuring that the Decoiling Lines are cleared of product and in a timely manner
  • Ensuring that product is prepared as per order instructions ready for despatch
  • Ensuring that machines are kept stocked of the correct pallets for the job
  • Ensuring that all necessary paperwork is carried out
  • Order Picking
  • Loading/Off loading of vehicles

 

MUST:

  • Have experience of planning and loading HGV's to ensure safe and complies with loading policy.
  • Understand Quality Management System IS09001
  • Have Health and Safety awareness and knowledge of working in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Able to work to target and schedules
  • Be used to working in a Manual Handling working environment
  • Eye for detail and responsibility for quality.

    Shift Patterns are currently 12 hour days and nights with a Saturday morning rota.
