Uptonsteel strengthens partnership with Foxes

Uptonsteel has galvanised its partnership with Leicestershire County Cricket Club by becoming the front of shirt sponsor in the Specsavers County Championship and T20 for the 2018 season.

Managing Director James Upton is a huge supporter of cricket in the county and he is also Chairman of Rothley Park Cricket Club.

There are big links between the Uptonsteel and both clubs through current Foxes star Cameron Delport and former club legend Phillip ‘Daffy’ DeFreitas, who is Rothley’s Director of Cricket.

Uptonsteel are the current player sponsor of Delport, who played for Rothley Park last summer and Rothley Park CC provide support by agreeing to former Leicestershire CCC legend Phillip DeFreitas to work with the next generation of cricketers at the Fischer County Ground.

DeFreitas has been passing on his considerable expertise to the Academy and Leicestershire Young Cricketers, something that has been of great benefit.

Uptonsteel will now appear on the front of the Specsavers County Championship shirt in the new era led by Head Coach Paul Nixon.

Nixon said: “It is great news that Uptonsteel is joining us as a front of shirt sponsor to continue our strong partnership. Both their and Rothley Park’s support in allowing Daffy (Phillip DeFreitas) to provide coaching here has been fantastic and we have a thriving relationship.

“We look forward to welcoming James to the Fischer County Ground during the 2018 season and thank him and the company for their support of the club.”
